What it does

S3Mounter uses the Windows Shell namespace extension API instead of a third-party driver, so a bucket behaves like a local drive.

Performance

Fast transfers

Concurrent multipart uploads, ranged GETs, and chunked streaming for large files. A local metadata cache keeps folder listings fast.

Security

Stored credentials

Access keys are kept in Windows Credential Manager, never in plaintext on disk. Connections use TLS 1.3, with a separate credential profile for each bucket.

Setup

Multiple bucket profiles

Create as many profiles as you need, each with its own drive letter, credentials, and endpoint. Mount and unmount each one from the system tray.

CLI and scripting

Mount and unmount from the command line or PowerShell, for example at login, in CI pipelines, or from scheduled tasks.

Set up in three steps

  1. 01

    Download and install

    The installer doesn’t need a reboot or a setup wizard. S3Mounter integrates with Explorer as a Windows Shell namespace extension.

  2. 02

    Add your bucket

    Enter the endpoint URL, access key, secret, and bucket name. Path-style and virtual-hosted-style addressing both work.

  3. 03

    Use it as a drive

    The bucket appears as a drive in File Explorer. Copy, move, and delete files as usual.
